It says it is freeware , but then it wants payment , what givesIf you've already followed the anti-virus scan / malware scan and removal, then try CCleaner! I've used this on all our computers and many others with really great results. It removes temporary files and can clean up your registry. This program is really great.
Hmmm... I've used CCleaner for years and never had a single issue with it. Are you sure it's the same one? There are a few others out there... some have the same name.
The one you want is published by Piriform software
I did say he uses it without ill effect, his machine, his work laptop, his parents. I dunno wtf he told it to do when he installed it on my PC but I wanted to punch him for it.
I didn't say "Don't Use It." I shared my one negative experience with it.

I down loaded it and it found problems but they want you to pay for the fix. Not free in my bookThey are just asking for donations...the program is free - I've never paid for it. It's very good too. You might want to pay attention to your settings, it won't hurt you at stock settings, but it can be aggressive too.
The registry checker is a great little tool. It gets all those orphans out of there.
You would be correct, I downloaded the wrong oneMy guess is you didn't download the program you thought you were getting.
I've seen this many times, even warned about it here on these forums before...there is a LOT of misdirection going on when visiting download pages....a person has to look very close that they click on the right link.
It should be outlawed.
