SES lights up when engine is cold and accelerating with 1800-2000 rpm´s. When releasing pedal light goes off, sometimes when accelerating more. Occational power loss. What´s wrong???

36 is IP code, could be the PMD or ECM ground
84 does not exist can't find that??? Are ya sure on this one?
99 is accelerator pedal position.

Have ya tried to clear them & start over maybe even pull the battery cables to reset the ECM?

I know the codes
DTC 36 - Injection Pulse Width Error (Time Long)
DTC 84 - Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Circuit Fault
DTC 99 - Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 5-Volt Reference Problem

But what could cause these? And how to clear codes without taking battery terminals off? Ign on and both pedals to the floor or something like that?

I clear them with my GMTD scan tool. There is some pedal key floor shake a dead chicken regimen that will also clear them, sorry you will have to search for that.

I was getting the IP 36 code when I had a bad PMD on my Tahoe, it cleared up after changing that.

The accelerator code can be a bad pedal potentiometer or I had a connector that also was causing those that had poor connection feeding my ECM.

Always good to clear em & start fresh.

Thank you!!! Where do I find witch terminal is witch at that connector? Is APP fixable or replaceable?

It's way easier to diagnose when you have a scanner. I was able to read the voltage on my GMTD scan tool, swapped out my APP with another & found nothing changed...so it was a connection issue on mine. Playing with the wire connections at the ECM is how I found my issue.

That was once checked with scanner and then it showed that everything was right... where to search loose connections etc.? Does that low (-20 and below) affect that? Because that has something to do with that when it appears.

If planning to do mostly your own maintenance I would recommend purchasing the manuals, or an AllDataDIY subscription, and a scanner, which GMTDScanTech is well worth its price. For this kind of troubleshooting you can even just purchase the ALDL cable to USB and use the free version of GMTDScan until you need the advanced functions.

I agree with Buddy. The GMTD Scan is the best tool I ever purchased for my OBD1 6.5.

The connector on mine that was loosing connection was located very near the ECM. There is no way I would have been able to find that without the GMTD tool.

If you have access to another 6.5 just pull the accelerator pedal & swap it with yrs to rule that out, that was my 1st step trouble shooting mine.

My ses light came and went with rpm's,, above 1700 it would come on,, and below that it would go off. Code 36 sometimes 35, thought it was this,, or that,, tried diff fuel additives,, none,, 30wt oil, 2 stroke,, problem came and went with every other tank of fuel it seemed,, then it started to stall :mad2: I replaced PMD with this one,, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...witem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2405wt_944 and Codes, went away!!! :D

But an ALDL is in my future, as I'm just lucky that I haven't needed it so far.

I have thought purchasing that, maybe I should get one. Like to do everything possible myself. And just to make sure, is the ECM located behind glove box? Where is PCM?
Unfortunately I don´t have another pedal to swap, these trucks aren´t here as popular as in us :(

But this problem is just when outside temp is below -15*C, or mostly anyways...

Cold temperatures can cause problems with electrical connections. Right now my ignition won't activate my starter sol. when it's -25C or colder.

Yea I call the ECM the puter box that is located behind the gloxebox. Your acronym PCM is prolly the correct one.

In yr position / location I would down load the free GMTD scan software & then purchase the cable for starters. At least with that you could view the majority of the input signals to the puter so you could better diagnose issues like this.

Yep, I thounght so too... Well, I´m gonna clear the codes and monitor what happens...
