What can be used to clean grime from a seatbelt strap? The replacement I was sent for my wife's Suburban (light gray) is pretty dirty and I think it will clean up, but don't want to damage the material. Any suggestions?

We clean aircraft belts with soap and water.

The material is fairly robust (I think automotive seat belts are mostly nylon, but don't quote me on that) so any mild soap will do.

The important thing to do is to make sure they are thoroughly flushed with clean water to remove the soap (it's a "contaminant" if it dries in the material) and allowed to air dry normally.

Then, just bolt 'em back in....
