I have a 2004 GMC 2500HD with the factory wheel flares and the previous owner got wax or polish on them and my qouestion is what have you found that gets the wax out of the textured plastic? I have tried several products with minimal success. Mothers "Back to Black" does a nice job on the areas without the wax. I would love to be able to get them all consistant matte black again.

You can try peanut butter, a tooth brush or even a pencil eraser. I have also read good things about Adam's All Purpose Cleaner. Your best to tape off the plastic before waxing.

Lighter fluid and a match:firedevil:

Ive never had luck getting wax off either. BTW Welcome to TTS

I've had pretty good luck with some WD40 on a microfiber towel and then wash, dry and coat regularly with Turtlewax ICE.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I'm anxious to try some of these methods. The idea of taping off the plastic flares sounds like a very good idea. On a black truck with black flares, the wax residue sticks out and detracts from an other wise pretty clean truck.
