Hello everyone!

i have a chevy 95 c1500 6.5 td

it feels like the stearing wheel is loose to the right side, like sloppy or something.
i have changed pitman arm and idler arm.
i don't know if this should be like this or if something is broken.
when i get over 100kmh i have to adjust the stearing wheel all the time to stay on the road.
i have also checked the tiers and i have done a wheel Alignment.
can it be the steearing column that broken?
i have adjusted the nut on the steearing column without any succses.

does anyone have a cloue whay causes this?

Thank you!

It pulls to the right only ?

Might be brakes dragging on that side front or rear? Most steering linkages I would think would cause errors on both sides or overall loose not just one side????

Ball joints or A arm bushing bad? Caster out on one side. Caster is not suppose to cause any tire wear but can affect steering feel. I think it takes a special procedure to adjust caster on these trucks you have to do some knock out I think. Does your alignment shop know that if its a more rare vehicle?

IF you can't find a loose linkage or bushing in front or rear I don't know look at the steering box again. Have some one steer it slowly back and forth and watch all the parts and pieces move look for any lag/delay or any extra movement. Look out the window and watch the tires move as you steer and see if there is any appreciable lag or extra movement of the steering wheel to wheel movement. Jack it up and shake the wheels in and out at the top and bottom and look for any give in ball joints.

Almost sounds like the 3 screws inside the column have come loose, I am sure there is a speical tool needed to fix it, I had mine done a while back..

The only special tools you need is a steering wheel puller. If I remember correctly on the 1995 if you have a air bag you will have 2 or 4 screws on he back side. Remove the screws and the air bag will come out. Then you can access the screws under the clock spring.

Check the rag joint where the steering shaft goes meets the steering box. The rag joint can become loose over time and heat. Rock the wheel back and forth or the shaft yourself under the hood and watch the rag joint for any slop.
