Cheap LBZ, under 15K

Truck looks great! Yeah, we are not used to trucks looking that nice for that long....

This was my 6.5L before I replaced the engine. Sorry to derail the thread!

Radiator support rotted clean off, just "setting" on the mounts.

I actually had a hole in my cast iron manifold! Loosing boost. Plastered exhaust putty and a hose clamp to get me by for a few months... This miraculously worked well...

I HATE NYS....... If it wasn't for family, id be GONE.

Wow. I never get used to seeing that. I really can't believe there are not designs of a complete shell of plastic or something around the vehicle for dealing with it.
The only airflow you need is air intake, exhaust, and radiator air flow, which could be completely seperates from the engine compartment for a design that style.

It's always interesting to see someone come out here and be amazed at things 100 years old with no paint left on it still in good condition.

Its nuts, knowing your basically throwing money away in an endless battle. This was my 94 when I ripped into it into 2008-2009. Engine had just under 200K miles. Reason for replacement was because the GP's rotted into the heads and couldn't be removed. Engine ran great, even with me blasting ether to start it almost everyday for 2 years.

I would think someone would encapsulate everything at some point- has no car company ever tried that? long life vehicles are "greener" I'm surprised none of the hybrid or all electric cars are not done that way.

Of course it's like the "Tucker" problem of having the car last too long. I had a second cousin (dead now) in that used to do engineering for Ford and GM. He told me once the southwest messes with their estimates of vehicle life. I'm guessing your on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Wow, I usually don't look at vehicles to buy until they are 6-7 years old.
We just got the 05 escalade ESV platinum with under 100,000 on it. Cost $10k. Blue book over $16k. I put in a new battery. Should eat an a/c compressor, fuel pump, blend door motor, and all 4 window regulators, full set of brakes in the next 25,000 miles. That will run me $1400. Not sweating anything till I get to 200,000 miles other than the seats and tires wearing out and a battery every 3-4 years.

Our 01 suburban we sold that it replaced averaged less than $200 year in costs.

You all sure have more cozy summer times, and Norman Rockwell looking Cristmas pics, but some of the chaos that comes with it-wow.

Of coarse I have some extra labor here also, see what has to be done today before it can be used?

Stupid leaves...

Yeah, I'll go swimming in muck when out camping. Actually, that pool with he chlorine has been the biggest sorce of rust my tools have seen in 20-30 years of me owning them. One of my home projects is closing of the garage from the pool air because of it.

Not all my stuff is rusting, but some started. I know it's not horrible, but in relation to what I'm used to I got upset enough to Fill in the vented window slated things they built. Next I'm filling in the open blocks.

Of corse working in there July and August I might be thinking of plan b. Haha
