Anyone have any tips to changing this out?
2001 GMC Crew Cab Dmax

Changed dash headlight switch and remove the unused kennedy bright light harness to ensure something wasn't bad and connected through it...

headlights turned on and bright light symbol stays on on dashboard but none of the headlights work...bright light symbol stays on no matter how many times you pull the blinker lever...every n ow and then you can get the bright lights to flash briefly from pulling the lever...

new unit will be here late in the week (AC/Delco D6257C) from Rock Auto.

chose to go back to OEM because most aftermarket units sold on amazon and Ebay all had complaints of "after a month the turn signals do not return to off after activating and making a turn"

most comments also said this was an easy install 30-45 minutes

anything to watch out for?
anything to make sure I do as to not have problems later?

also want to change out the rotted shift boot on the auto trans shifter

wondering how that big tow/haul knob gets through that hole though...

I believe it's t-25's or t-20's, but you have to find and remove the screws from the bottom half of the plastic piece going around the cluster. Once it comes off, the top should also as they just clam shell around it. As to the boot, you take the shifter out from the column, then it slides right through. Be EXTRA careful of the harness that goes through the shift lever as they are known to break right where the wires go into it. You will need a good torx bit set as it will all be torx bits iirc, but an easy enough job.
