I odered a set of Reman injectors from Accurate Diesel + install kit.

I was told there might be a gasket between my turbo and manifold that will need replaced after I pull it off, does anyone know if this is true? Factory GM4 on 95 chevy 1500.

I also will be changing out my IP and Glow Plugs. I have the Engh Motors scan cable and program for IP TDCO Setting. Do I need anything else?

Is there anything besides antiseize I may need for my glows?

You can use high temp silicone, but the gaskets are nice.

I didn't have a gasket between my GM4 and the manifold. There IS a gasket between the Turbo Oil return line and the turbo that MUST be in place to prevent leakage.

Antiseize is nice on the Glows.

WHY are you changing out your IP? <-- I'm curious

didn't see any gasket yet on all the 6.5 I've been working on here.... except the one the bear mentioned ;)

Tanman, it seems you have everything needed to do the job, assuming you get the right sockets and wrenches, especially for timing the IP ? :D

Misses at Idle and has thrown code 18? (cam reference something or another) since the day I got it. ~20-25,000 miles ago  , only 6 months.

I got a used 6.5 repair tool kit off ebay the day after I got the truck. Its in a blue plastic box from a car dealer closing.

I always worry I will get it torn apart and have to make a parts run or 2 and it 15 miles to town.

Thanks,
Tanner

High temp silicone will just burn there. The manifold can glow.

Others have said and I agree that soot from the engine will seal up the manifolds to the heads and to the turbo. These old manifolds warp with heat cycling. So if it leaks you best bet is to replace the manifold.

Use a copper-based antiseize for both glows and injectors. My turbo flange did NOT have a gasket just as the others stated. No probs before or after. Some will say there is no need to remove turbo... and while technically true I can tell you my life was significantly improved by taking it off for the job. I simply used copper silicone for oil return line. No issues there, either.

I'd recommend firing it up before doing the IP to get air out and check for injector operation. WHo knows... that miss might (MIGHT) go away... sure would save a big headache if it did.

Update, :nonod: last weekend sucked.

I changed my injectors and glow plugs, this took 2.5 days. Didn't get to my IP due to lack of time. (Took to long because I had no freaking clue what needed to come off and how to get it off)

My truck runs worse now and has been leaking diesel all week. 2mro I hope to tear into it or else it will be another week of driving as is.

I did find out my vaccum line has been broken so this explains the smoke and heat while pulling light loads and no power. (not any better yet due to leak and POS IP)

I did however find out I have a 506 block in my 95. Maybe good news

All in all I just want to push my truck into a Canyon. :mad2:

Problem Fixed!

It seems someone must have crawled in and loosened the injector line on my #8 injectors :rolleyes5:

No wonder it ran like crap.

On my way out I installed my K47 Air Intake and matching coolant tank. I also changed my fuel filter.

It now runs as good as before. Doesn't run better really but it does run quieter.

TD: PM recieved
