Changed fuel filter now no start

I changed the fuel filter like I have 20 times before and now my 95 6.5 won't start. I ran probably a gallon of fuel through the air bleed on top of the filter already . I ran the batteries down pretty good and recharged both of them. I put the batteries back in and tried again and it hit a couple if times but never started. I have good batteries and plenty of fuel. I also noticed the lift pump would run about a minute after I turned the key off each time I would try to start the truck. Temperature is about 45 right now and I'm charging the batteries again. Any ideas ??

Freak coincidence with another issue.

IF oil pressure builds the lift pump will run for a little after starting for the start cycle. I wouldn't worry about that probably has to do with extended cranking.

Is it leaking? Did the old seal stayed on the rim of the manager and its not sealing allowing air in and its draining back and having a hard time priming and purging the air out.

Look at the old filter if the rubber and especially! the metal ring isn't there then it might be on manager.

When you change filter do you clean out the bowl and check for the screen? Was that all intact and no water excess crud down there etc.

Had it been sitting or was it warm and running right before you changed the filter?

Need some more details.
 
Thanks for replying. The gasket is still on the old filter and I used a Turkey Baster to remove the fuel from the manager and cleaned everything out with blue towels. The screen was still in there also. The truck had been sitting overnight and the temp was about 30 so this was done on a cold engine.
After I changed the filter,I had my son turn over the engine while I opened the air bleed. The truck fired up and I closed the bleeder and it ran fine for a few seconds and then died.
 
I do have a question about the fuel filter. Napa changed their filters a while back and you didn't use the black ring from the old style filters. Now they have have gone back to the old style. My question is.......Is the only gasket on the fuel filter the one that is actually on the filter when you buy it or is there supposed to be another O ring on the black cap that screws down and holds the filter in?
 
Own the injector lines at the injectors. It hard to push air thru when its under pressure. Once you get some fuel thru the IP and lines it should fire right up
 
The Stanadyne filter only has the seal on the filter but there is thin metal support ring. Nothing on the Stanadyne black hold down ring. Not sure about aftermarket filters.

Since it was not running before filter change you really don't 100% without a doubt know it wasn't something unrelated to filter. BUT it probably is air. Might have pulled a small vacuum on the fuel line from sitting til cold and sucked some air when you took filter out????

I have had a harder start than usual doing a cold filter change and now crank it up before changing filter. Don't have to get it to operating temp just let it run a little to eliminate any second guessing.
 
After charging the batteries for a second time and hooking everything back up, she finally started !!! The reason I asked about a second gasket is that I had a little diesel on the inside of the black ring and old filter always looked a little damp. Everything was tight as I could get it so I'm not sure what the problem was. I bet I never change the fuel filter with a cold engine again.

All that happened is when you changed the filter, air trapped in the filter housing, then it had to bleed out the injectors. A clear 1/4" line on the return side of the ip would have had bubbles in it identifying the problem for you. Cracking open the injector nuts like AK Diesel said would have bleed out the air in about 30-45 seconds of cranking. Next time, you'll be ready.
 
The LP needs to be energized when cranking.
Either use the pins at the relay or ALDL connector.

The 95 does not have that feature unless you add a relay or 2.
