i instaled a true frow XDI intake and got a cel, had the code read and one code was P0101, which has something to do with the intake. the other code was P0402, which involves the egr. i had a cel due to a bad egr pretty early on and had it fixed under warranty. idk why but i just get the feeling that the new intake is causing both codes, but i broke the stock intake when i took it out so i cant put it back in to see. im hesitant to take it to the dealership in case they void my warranty if the intake is the cause... any help here?

Bummer..

I would first see if the MAF is in good shape. Make sure you didn't mess it up upon installing the new intake. I'm not familar with the XDI intakes. Are they oiled?

The only way you will end of having to pay for anything at the dealer is if your installation is the cause. Warranty can't be voided unless that part is proven to have caused the malfunction. Magnussen-Moss Act of 1975. They have to actually prove it to be the problem, most dealerships won't take the time to actually asses it and lie to you and say its out of warranty. As long as its an actual issue and not the installation, there should be no charge to take it to the dealer. But they don't call the "Stealers" for nothing.

the intake will cause P0101. Which means the MAF sensor circuit is out of range.

Cleaning it doesnt seem to help. If you have EFI Live, you can disable the code. It shouldnt set a CEL.

The EGR is what set the CEL.

Simple Fix: Block and finger it,

ya theyre oiled. seems to be an ok intake. when the cel first came on, true flow sent me a tiny part that was supposed to take care of the cel. it was basically 2 honey comb layers or mesh that overlapped. this little desc went it right after the intake can. i guess it was just supposed to restrict the air flow a little more, but the cel stayed on, thats when i went to have it read.

im leanin towards a ppe or any other cheap programmer that can take care of dtc, correct for larger tires and also have some tunes. but, i dont want to void my warranty

thats a risk that most of us take. Anytime you plug in a tuner you have a chance of loosing your warranty, but they also have to prove that it made the part break. and make sure you set the truck back to stock when you bring it to dealers and if you are running like a 70hp or 90hp tune you shouldn't have to worry as long as you don't beat on it.

ya i would probably stick with an economy tune or a tow tune that dind't give that much extra hp but gave me better mileage. i just needa correct for my tires and get rid of this stupid cel

ppe is the only tuner that will automatically take care of egr codes other ones might be able to delete the but the code will come back with the ppe you dont have to worry about it so when you put on your exhaust you wont have to worry about the egr codes, and also the standard one doesnt have those features you will have to go with the xcellerator and up

The PPE isnt the cheapest, but it does do a lot. If your just running the 4 setting one you shouldnt really need any gauges but they do add peace of mind. Anything over that and Id get them, your also looking at tranny upgrades after that too.

The #1 solution is to block the EGR and then fingerstick it. No codes. No EGR sticking, nothing.

Voiding the warrenty is a risk we all take, however, you have to have a crabby dealer for them to void it.

My dealer is nice, boost, valve, EFI Live, exhaust, Intake, FASS, and a few other little mods, still have whats left of the warrenty which is only injectors and body panels. Injectors have been done and I doubt my mods would make the body panels rust.

i still dont really understand what blocking and finger sticking does, im gonna start a thread in here about it so add some info there.

is it bad to delete these codes? cuz the computer thinks theres a problem, which there might actually be, but the cel doesn't show up because you have a tuner. couldn't this cause damage after time? maybe im missing something im just a little confused as always
