Is the cdr supposed to close when the turbo spools up and close the valve so as to not pull oil from the crankcase? What would be the result of a cdr that isn't working? I have no oil residue at the turbo inlet and was wondering if that is normal.

Yes , but I did put a piece of breathe material in the pipe at the CDR and maybe that's why oil doesn't reach the turbo inlet.

There is quite a bit of that material in the valve cover below the CDR.

Ah, Snake in the grass, info seems never complete!

How many mls on the engine, and how many since you put that material in?
I think you should take that stuff back out of the pipe.If you restrict normal breathing you'll get other probs like blown seals and such.

I bought it with 205,000 in jan. and put it in there when it had 207 on it and now it has 213. What can I say I get around. I took it out yesterday to clean it. But if there's one in the v/c shouldn't that be replaced at some point/ It would clog eventually also. I want to keep it running right as I plan on keeping it until it blows up. And even than I might repower it with something that can pull a hill at 70 mph. w/o overheating.

CDR test and cooling is explained here. Also many posts on clean the rad and fix the fan clutch on here.
