Ok, First thanks for everyones help these last few months, Either with stickies or direct help. Will post pics on a build thread of some sort when I get the truck home from EX GF house. My question is I had forgotten to tighten the turbo clamp from the turbo to silicone hose and it sprayed a mist of oil on the air box. Is there always a little oil from the turbo/cdr or is the new cdr not functioning properly. If I had not left the clamp loose I would not even know this was happening. My old GM8 always had a little oil on the turbo side and now seems this way with ATT turbo. I gotta get this thing home and can check for blow by and other tests. This Teds engine with upgrades runs great now that it is timed and much improved from old engine that had good power for stock. Thanks in advance and thanks to Turbine Doc for mt2500 stickie and Handcannon for HB bolt tightening thread.

The cdr pulls the excess pressure from the crankcase and always has oil vapors with it.
*My guess* Going from the gm8 to the ATT shouldn't add more oil to it, it should be less since it runs lower boost pressure to produce the same power the blow by your engine has would be less affected by it. Is my theory off base ateam?

If you do have some blow by how mant miles and how hard was it run? Would you tear it down and rebuild for some blowby - the cause is worn rings / cylinders.

I had a 3500 that would blow the dipstick out when I bought it, po said it was like that for about 15,000 miles. the vent tube must have fell off the cdr because I would never just vent to the air because I love the EPA.
I put about 25,000 miles on it before it was sold and never a problem.

The engine is from the military take out program. So previous history is unknown. When I changed the headgaskets it looked like it had no use at all, compared to the old engine.

You could do a compression test and a cylinder leak down test just so that you have a baseline to start with - only if it really bothers you. Otherwise tighten the clamp, pay attention to oil usage and run it.

It can be easy to turn a well maintained truck into an overly maintained truck. Don't get so caught up in caring for the truck that you forget to enjoy it!

"Mine will suck the filter indicator in whenever I romp on it, it doesn't make as much boost due to less back pressure but it still moves a lot of air"
Could it be creating higher vacuum preturbo causing the indicator to give false reading and possibly sucking more oil vapors out of the cdr tube? If so a pressure variance chamber could eliminate his problem.
That is if he is in the EPA fan group with me and my H1 so that he doesn't decide to vent to atmosphere to eliminate all his worrys of burning to much oil. I hug trees (usually with my axles).

The indicator only started this with the new Nanofiber filter, it didn't suck in with an oiled filter, that I recall.
