Hey yall,

Ok so I want to get the best balance of performance and sound. Not sure whether I should go with a cat back system or a dual with crossover system. The truck in question is a 1997 GMC c1500 with the 4.3 v6. What would yall recommend? I want something that will help with performance, but doesnt sound like fresh turds either, especially with the v6. Thanks :cornut:

True Duals is gonna Sound like a Hollow Tin Can on the 4.3L

I had just a Single 2.5" Cat-Back with a Flowmaster 40 Series on my S10 Blazer and it Sounded really nice.

Kinda the responses I was thinking would show up. Figured asking cant hurt though, especially for helpin out someone else in the same boat. In that case Ill go down to the local shop once I get some money and have him do a single in dual out flowmaster 40 setup. Found a video of a guy with that exact same setup on the same model truck and it sounded kickass  Thanks for the feedback guys :agreed:

A nice straight through Borla or something like that sounds good with a V6.

Flowmasters and a V6 sounds awful IMO..

Duals with a balance tube or a single 3" would be nice me thinks.

I've had a few 4.3 trucks. My '88 Jimmy I was running a Mellotone XPS muffler, single > dual, and it sounded good. The I added a pair of the Z-28 exhaust tips, the rectangular ones, and it sounded GREAT. The area, and shape of your tip can affect your sound. I had Roadhouse Doolies on the bike, and the fishtail had a distinctly different sound compared to the sharkfin tips, and both styles were quieter than the shotgun, or slash tips.
