i've had the program for a couple of months now tried it when i first got and it seemed to work. now my injection pump needs replacing and i went to use it and i can't always get it to connect to my truck and when it does it disconnects after about 30 seconds. i was wondering if it has happened to anybody else and how you fixed it

When I got mine I couldn't connect, I sent my cables back and it was a fault in the cables. Since then I had a no connect problem and wiggling the cable connections solved it. Try that.

maybe disable all things running other than the car code, like virus scan or other programs. Try finding new USB drivers for the cable. I abuse my ALDL cable pretty good, but not all cables are made equal.

i've a bunch of different things with the computer with no luck and even tried a different computer with the same results

I had tried different computers and different trucks thinking it was my ALDL connector in the veh. It most likely is the cable.

It might be that the initialization file got corupted. Mine did the first time, I had to delete the install and reinstall the software, then re enter the ID code.

Try putting it on another car and see if you can get a connection. If you don't have another car, go to neighbor house or friends, etc, borrow their car.

If it works, then the scanner cable is good and software is good.
The connector in your truck is bad.

Otherwise, you have bad scanner cable or bad software install.
Reinstall the software to see if it works, if it does not, then cable is bad.

You realize that the 3/4 ton (and above) truck does not have to be OBD-II compliant. It has the port but does not have to follow all the standards. That is why try it on a sedan or light pickup just to make sure things work before putting it in the truck.

This is not true, the 98 is OBDII. I used car code on my 98 and it works well.

It may not be true, I am just saying that it may not be 100% compliant. Hence, some trucks may not be connected just right or they don't check if it is compliant or not. That is why OP needs to troubleshoot with another car.):h

By the way, I am not saying that Carcode is not compliant or bad. I heard it is an awesome program and it should work.
I trust the software but the hardware, cables and connectors are different story.
