Can somebody point me to the threads on what needs to be done to swap from an S intak

The swap isn't too difficult, new F style gaskets are about all that is needed. Just unbolt the old intake and replace. The one thread mentions using sealant on the threads.

The egr line is just plugged off unless you have a chip or reflash to disable it.

They have a metal plate where the egr ports are, the S gasket is open and would work but may wash out in time. The metal plate would act as a reinforcement

So all I have to do is swap the intake tops and plug the vac line?
Well, that's the first step.

The job will be done after you've removed the lower intake and replaced the gaskets with units containing the metal block off plate (These units are Diapco part number 91586 HD obtained at NAPA)

Replace the lower intake.

Apply thread sealer and "locker" (I use Permatex Sealer and Anti-Seize) to the correctly numbered bolts

Tighten in the correct sequence and Torque to 31lbs

Don't neglect this opportunity to clean the grounds.;)

Then you can install your "F" upper intake.

Your day may have just got a little longer.

Thanks for the awesome reply.

Not so much longer. I'm pulling the lower to change the fuel lines.

What do you use for thread sealer? I have always used Teflon tapes and Teflon pipe dope. I always use both.

Not so much longer at all. I am going to eliminate the turbo muffler and change the elbow into the air filter to PVC or aluminum,

Clean the headlights - We've been using Scotch Brite pads equivalent to 00 steel wool on a 3" pad in a drill and having excellent results

CHANGE THE FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT, probably change the rear brake lines and fuel lines after I probably trash them while removing the fuel tank.

Fix leaking rear brakes - probably a wheel cylinder but I have not diagnosed the problem yet.

replace the front right anti-lock brake sensor and see if that fixes that issue and rotate tires front to back

Seems like I forgot a thing or 3 but that's enough to keep me busy today

Seems there was a proper or recommended torque procedure. Starting at 10lbs in the correct sequence and up in 5 lb increments until you were torqued at 31 lbs.

Does anybody recall anything along these lines?

What are all the differences between the S & F lower intakes?

I was just going to change the upper and put new gaskets on the lower.

Would I be better off to buy a F lower?

Are there mods I should make to the S lower?
