I've ordered some roof clearance lights for my truck but need the harness to power them. GM Parts Direct said that the part number is 15143671 with a call out number of 15. Is this the right harness/part number? I really don't want to order the wrong thing.

Here is a pic of what it looks like

15846970 is the part number for the clearance light harness.

The part number that you posted is for the harness that feeds the mirror, rear seat entertainment, and/or auto climate control (there is a sensor up there).

Thanks! Does it matter if I have onstar or a sunroof? Will it be the same harness or will it have to be one that has plugs for those too?

Kinda...depending on how your truck is equipped will affect the harness. The part number I gave is for JUST the cab lights. It is the harness I have in my back seat waiting to be installed, it is also the same one my roommate used to install his cab lights in his 07 Classic. Buying the standalone harness is the cheapest route, the more cabling that is bundled together the more expensive the harnesses get. I think it is the XM antenna...damn that thing is expensive... You don't have to buy the a harness that includes everything your truck has + cab lights, this one will just not be part of the original bundle.

But yeah, the cab light plug goes to the passenger side distribution block, not sure on where the other things would plug into. This thread: http://www.dieseltowingresource.com/showthread.php?t=10076 should answer any other questions.

Thanks! I'm going to have to modify the harness. There is already a harness in the plug of the distribution block where the lights are supposed to plug into. I'm going to have to splice the new harness into it.

Ok, that shouldn't be too bad of a job, there is a blue retaining clip that slides out of the green plug end on the cab light harness, then the wires with terminal ends can be pulled free. I would assume that your existing plug has a similar release mechanism.
