I got this idea from another member.

It took me almost a month to get my hands on a free washer. This one was nice but, it was over 12 years old. Here is a pic:

Once I got it home I ripped it apart to make my new fire pit.

Only thing else you need to add is some bricks to keep it off the ground.

The only thing I need know is for the fire ban to lift and cooler weather.

Was that idea from our camping trip Marty?

note: if you can, try to get one with an all stainless wash drum...

Yes!

I will start looking again. They are hard to come by free. There is a few people in town that collect them up to fix and sale for there main or secondary income.

I figure this one will last me a few years. :skep:

free is always good ;)

I've had a few of those in my day ... they work great!

Here are a few suggestions for ya:

1] As Pepp said, get one with a stainless drum... they're much better at transferring heat.

2] Make it portable. I mounted mine to an old lawn-mower body (took the engine off an old push mower), about 6" above the mower deck so the tires wouldn't melt. You can start your fire, and then take it with you.

Mine is out at the acreage, but I found a picture of one online ... surprisingly hard to find! I thought there would be lots of pictures, but apparently they aren't as common as I thought.

Lots of people have then up here... must be the low class of people I camp with :) (or the low class of people THEY camp with!)

I could never build one like that. My youngest boy loves pushing anything with wheels. I could see him now pushing away the campfire. LOL :hihi:

I'd get along well with your boy, Marty... I used to take the 'porta-fire' to ball tournaments with us. I LOVED pushing it from campsite to campsite when we'd go visiting other teams!
