I am starting on the engine that will be built to handle, for the long haul, what I have already done to my stock engine, along with a few more added performance parts. My main question for the build is: to cam or not to cam? I know they are all just re grinds from a stock cam, and I am currently, and will be on the new engine as well, running 1.6 roller rockers so I have some added lift that isn't an option with any other cam. But my main concern is whether or not it would be worth it to spend any money on any of the "aftermarket" cams. For the price of Heath's and Peninsular's, I think both of those are out of the question. SS Diesel's is also fairly expensive but I am pretty sure it is just the Peninsular Diesel's cam. So really the only other one that I know if is a Delta cam. Has anyone ran any of these cam? Or have any experience with any of them. Or what are all of your opinions on running any of these aftermarket cams? I would like to keep my peak torque still relatively low to mid range to match the turbo and how I use my truck, but I think there is room for improvement with the pump/turbo combo I am running. But I have no experience with any cam other than stock on a 6.5.

I have the Delta 202 cam. Unfortunately as you've seen in my thread I changed a lot of stuff all at once so I can't give specific feedback on just the cam. My gut feel is that I wish I had kept the stock cam. It just feels like it doesn't run as smooth as it should and the only thing in my mind that I can really attribute that to is the cam. Based on some other reading that I've done at dieselplace, I feel like anything I did gain with the cam wasn't much.

I will report back after my trip to tell how it does. It's only going to be an hour from home, so pretty low risk. I think I'm only a month away or so from putting the WTA IC on! And no, I still haven't datalogged....... :(

Oh also TurboVanMan is having a custom cam ground by someone he knows, I'm interested to see how that works out for him.
