Couple questions; first, since my truck does not have them, if I want to get the Recon Smoked Lens do I have the any of the right wiring for them and do they come as just the lights where I would have to get the factory ones first to then switch them out to the smoked lens? Sorry for the newbie like questions.

From what I understand with the new trucks you can get just the wiring harness from the dealer..

Dunno on the GMT900, but for the GMT800 the harness in the roof, above the headliner, has the Onstar, the XM, the clearance lights, and I think the Map Light wiring all in one big bundle...IF you have all those options. My truck for instance, no OnStar, no clearance lights, so my harness is map lights and XM only. I have a couple options, I can buy a clearance light only harness and tie it to my existing one, or I can buy the clearance light + XM + map light harness and change the whole thing. F-THAT. IIRC the clearance light harness plugs into a junction box on the passenger side, I think I remember reading that.

Looking back and digging, I *think* the stand-alone clearance light harness for a NBS truck is GM Part No. 15805944 Maybe someone can verify that for me.

Thanks for the Part Number Devin. Maybe I'll head over to the dealership this week and see what I need or have to install my lights. Sorry for the delay in response, but thanks again.

talk to upstate diesel performance. they hooked me up the lights look great and work great as well. i highly recommend their smoked recons. great price and great guys. i bought cab lights and fender flare lights from them.

What about an older 1988-1998 body style? I thought about some from a "donor" truck but am concerned about the lights being in the correct place on the roof! I want them to look like they came from the factory!

they make them for all of them i believe. check out there website.

Both Recon & Pacer have lights to match 88-98, 99-07, 07.5-present styles.

Thanks for the info! I wonder if they will have a template of the roof so the lights look like they were factory installed! I'm afraid that they will look like "crap" if not done correctly. Has anybody ever had their headliner pulled back to see it there are "marks" on the inside roof where the hole are supposed to be?

I think I saw the instructions for the pacer's on their website when I verified their existence for the 88-98 style. The instructions might mention a template.

:iagree:Yeah, mine too. I want them to look correct. Nothing would piss me off like having them off one way or another and have people be able to tell.:nonod:

Their site must be under going some transformations as it has a "F A Q" but it would not open. Also could not get the instructions to open. Will try later.

I have been looking at smoke roof markers also, I found some Pacer Performance and Putco LED at Summit Racing http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntt=cab+lights&N=700+115&Nao=0&Ntk=KeywordSearch#rstop , they sell the set or individual replacements. This is just another site to compare with for those who are interested.

Thanks for the info! I am still looking to see if somebody offers a template so I can make sure the lights are CORRECTLY positioned so it looks like it was installed at the factory!

How well do you know the guys in the shop at your local GM dealer? It's *possible* that one of the good ol' boys there (if you have any of those in your area, I do :D) still has a template for those pick-ups.
