Diesel depot can get aftermarket but heads will need some machining to fit supposedly. aprox. $10 each. Average price anywhere else that me and chevy cowboy could find was $40 each for oem. There is pics of the aftermarket ones in my optimiser thread.

The aftermarket precups are magnetic. The oe precups are not.

I see no reason why they wouldn't be. All aftermarket heads come with them.I've never heard of anyone having any trouble with them here or over at the place. I'm betting a $7000 engine on them.

the only draw back i can see is that the heads need to be mechined to accept them? i wonder why this is? are they oversized? taller?

they are a tad thicker and a tad taller so the pocket needs to be machined.
