I replaced the leaking figure-eight seal on my hydroboost unit, like in this picture here:

Upon reassembly, I now cannot get the brakes to release. It's like the accumulator is still under full pressure, and will not discharge, even when I pump the brakes with the truck off. The brake pedal is very stiff, with the truck on and off both. Eh... so now what do I do?? Please help!

98 Suburban K2500 if it matters.

I hope you are not dropping a small part like small spring ? when you pull it out to disassemble.

Never done it, just a thought.

I've had it apart and back together again 3 times now... all parts are correctly assembled, I am at least sure of that much. I have an exploded diagram that came with my rebuild kit.

I will try cracking a line though that sounds like a good idea.

I'm not going to say it's impossible that something's in backwards, but there's really not much to put in backwards, except maybe the spool valve, which I'm sure is in correctly.

Maybe the replacement part is bad?

I replaced a master cylinder on my 79 three times before I got a actual correctly working master cylinder. :mad2:

You ever have one of those DUH moments?

there's a tiny plunger that goes in the dump valve that was sitting in the bottom of my drain pan. problem solved. thanks for all the help.

Post #2, did you drop anything small when you take it out? answer is tiny plunger.

Happened to all of us. Good to hear you solved it!!!
