TD from a 2 y/o thread here:
Brake control mounts in cab and gets brake signal from a terminal on the in cab fuse/relay center

Can anyone help me out on finding the correct place or wire to tap into for the brake light switch?

All the other wires have been a piece of cake. But I am having a heck of a time finding the correct place to connect to the brake signal.

Thanks!!!

I take it this is on your 96?

If so, there is a pin, cant remember which one, but it was on a lower row of the under dash electrical center. I just took a test light, touched them all, took note of the dead ones, then put one hand on the brake pedal and re-checked the dead ones. one should light up. this is the right pin. I just used a crip on female spade end and tightened the one side of the female part a little more, then slid it over that pin.

And there you go, clear as mud probably, but that is the no-splice way of doing it on the 95 and up dash.

Good luck!

Excellent, I will give that a shot tomorrow. That coincides with what TD was saying as well.

And yes it is for the 96-99 newer dashes. I am doing both trucks at once :)

Thanks!

Here is what I ended up doing... Please let me know if this is a bad idea. :)

Looks good to me, How well does it work?

I did something similar on a ground in my truck.

Now I know what that wire hanging out of mine is for! My brake controller! THanks!

Hey Jimbo!

That info should be incorperated into the tech library somewhere, it could save alot of people time hooking up brake buddies....

What does NAT stand for?

Thanks for the + feedback on saying it is a good spot. :)

NAT = ???

If you look at the top row on the fuse panel there is another slot that says NAT as well, but I did not check that location with the DMM.

Give me a couple weeks and I hope to get the Spartan out for a trip... I have already missed some good camping weather, but with the kids in soccer/softball/swimming/cub scouts I just have no time to steal them off to the mountains!
