This happened all of a sudden. Both rear doors will no unlock either electrically or manually. I do not have a fancy keyfob just the central lock from driver side. Can anyone point in the right direction.

So neither the switch or the knob will operate the locks?

If this is what you are saying it sounds like what happened to the old 88 Crown Vic I got for the kids to drive. One front door would not unlock. no matter what I tried. The other would not lock. I took off the door panels and on both doors the electric solenoid was frozen. One was locked, the other was in the unlock position. I disconnected the solenoids and now they will lock/unlock just by the key.

I never did do it, but new solenoids would fix the problem.

If you're talking about the rear end cargo doors, the contacts are probably corroded. You can remove the trim from inside and manually move the lock rod to get them open, then clean/ replace the contacts as needed. If the key cylinder will not turn, try soaking it with penetrating oil, if it won't free up replacement is needed. I don't trust the contacts on mine, so I removed the rod from the lock actuator to the lock, so it only works with the key.

Thanks for te replies, but the issue is for the 2 passenger rear doors. I cannot even open them from the interior or when trying to open the door itself from the inside.

OK, it sounds more like just the rear side door lock actuators crapped out, which is fairly common (although not 2 at one time). How to get the doors open for repair I don't know.

I had to go through this with the 88 Crown Vic. The drivers door was locked. Neither the key in the exterior cylinder, or the interior knob would unlock the door, the solenoid was siezed. I ended up removing the drivers seat in order to remove the interior door panel. Once the panel was off I could access the electric solenoid, disconnect the rod, and open the door. It was a tight squeeze getting the door panel off and my hand into the solenoid, but the door was opened.

With both rear doors locked is the wiring controlling the lock shorted? Won't be able to tell until the doors are opened. You'll probably have to go through the rear door and remove the rear seat so you can try to remove the inner door panels.
