Blinking Transmission Indicator Light

My little indicator light is on solid when in park, but blinks when in drive. The blink isn't exactly at regular intervals. Just a light going bad, or is it trying to tell me something?

What year is your truck?

On 95's in particular, this was a tell-tale sign that the ignition switch was heading south.

Its a '97. So far no ignition switch problems, though its hard to turn it to accessory, have to find just the right key position to get it to go.
