The battery post on my cs130 alternator spins loose. Is this a fixable event or is the alternator toast?

Thanks!

It can be fixxed, but I think you have to open it up to hold the post inside to tighten the lock nut down. If you don't tighten it up, you will toast it in short order as that loose connection will begin to arc and get resistance and fry teh diodes in the alternator(diodes HATE voltage spikes, and the battery is actually the damper for the alternator).

You can check U Tube, I am sure there are some video on how to rebuild which means they show you how to at least open it up.

Or if you can find an alternator shop nearby, they can probably fix it without costing too much.

I just did mine a few days ago, volts went up on the gauge.

In case you are not familiar with alternators, there is a hole on the back that you can insert a wire or small nail to hold the brushes in the holder. after the cases are back together pull the wire to release the brushes. Also a good idea to mark the cases so they go back together in the right orientation.
