Banks?????

There was a dealer installed option at GMC dealers of a Banks turbo before the GM turbos came out. Supposedly according to Banks it outperformed the GM turbo set-up. It could have been put on a 6.2. I have the Banks propaganda here somewhere. I was considering it for my 91- 6.2. They were $2200 for the whole conversion.

They are still available. I think the GM setup puts ou more. The only advantage to a Banks is it will clear the a/c box and the injs on the older motors.

Something about the manifold just doesn't look right to be a sidewinder. There's an "SS" cast into the manifold that I haven't seen before.

Wasn't there another company that made turbo kits for the 6.2 way back when?

Bank's propaganda i got in 99

This is the info I got from Banks in 99 when I was driving a 91 k2500LD W/6.2 N/Ascan0010_1.jpgscan0011_1.jpgscan0012_1.jpg

It says the Banks Sidewinder was available as a GMC dealer installed option from 89-91. Not a real clear picture of the passenger side exhaust manifold.

Propaganda is probably absolutley right :)

Hell I've hauled that much wood in my Camaro fer cryin' out loud.

RayJay used to make a turbo kit for the 5.7 olds diesels. Talk about a ticking time bomb.

ATS made one that had a funky looking aircleaner adaptor. Good luck ever getting parts for it. The Banks kit works well for what it is. Just too much money for my blood but if you have a 6.2 in an OBS truck it's really the only way to go and keep the a/c box stock. There was one other company that made them too but for the life of me I can't remember. That manifold alone is 400$ from Banks.

Thought I had a pic somewhere. That is not a Banks. I have no idea what it is. Maybe ATS. I can't post the pic it's too large, but that is not a banks manifold.
