Took my truck to a buddys shop to have him do an allignment on it, he put it on the rack and found that the upper ball joints and the pitman and idler arms where bad. well that sucks beacouse i just put those in 2yrs ago and they where all Moog parts. i think they are getting destroyed beacouse i have the torsion bars cranked with the reindexed keys. saddly the truck didnt even see any time on the road for one of those 2 yrs

eventually i would like to do a SAS on this truck but the budget just does not allow for that right now, so here is my question should i spend the $250 to put Moog parts in again or should i spend the $56 and put the cheap parts from rockauto in, they are Auto Extra/Chassis Rite. since i will have it all apart i am more than likely going to put the lower BJ in at the same time.

what are you guys opinions of the cheap parts?

Just yesterday I put a new set of upper BJ's in my Cognito UCA's. They come with Moog joints I got 59K out of them. Not to bad spinning the larger tires.

I would go to NAPA as I don't think they sell MOOG products. I am pretty sure they sell Spicer. The new BJ's I picked up are noticeably a better product. Here is the part number for mine NCP2601313 if you wanted to see a picture of them. I also like the boots on the new joints better.

ya but i like the way it sits now so i guess this is the price i pay. i do plan on doing the SAS one day when i get some cash laying around.

So are you saying that Moog parts arent as great as they used to be? are spicer parts better?

Not sure if their parts are not as good as before or just others have stepped up and are making improved parts.

In the picture above the shaft is necked down towards joint itself. (why ) There is a difference of .100" in the diameter at that point. That .100" just might add to the strength if you ask me.....

Pretty consistantly good quality, me thinks.

....That's highly possible.

That's so the ball joint wont bind when the suspension cycles fully.... And more so, that's why they fail when the torsions are cranked, they're always hammering away at this shoulder
