we just got back from 4 days of wheeling at Badlands. Holy ferkin' snert, what a great place!

I'll have pictures to follow, but trust me, its off road heaven on earth. they got a little something for everyone. Sand dunes, rock gardens, trails from "easy" to "body damage WILL occur'". Lots of creeks to run in and across, ATV only parts, truck/jeep only parts, MX tracks, hill climbs, mud runs, and every thing else except in between.

And its freaking Huge. We were there 4 days, and I didnt see it all. Granted, we ran the same trails a couple different times, but those trails were highly enjoyable, and nobody complained about redoing them.

Anyone within trailering distance should really, really make it a point to get over there and try it out.

some pics. bear in mind, that hills never come out looking as steep in pictures as they do in real life. Some of these hills are wicked

Some 'artistic liberty' with the camera angles here. I aint really straight up and down (but it's close).

Case in point, this looks flat, but its actually a rather steep climb

dropping into the creek on the orange trail

Climb, baby! Climb!

Down is easier than up, right?

Right!

Rock-a...

...Roll-a

Nasty, slick, steep, muddy hill. I was the first one to make it to the top, out of 5 guys who tried. One guy never did make it, and had to be winched.

Thats it for now. more to come later.

been there years ago on vacation...couldn't drive yet though....awesome pics...looked like a blast....those bumps on that first hill couldv've been the real impediment for the one guy who didn't make it(especially on a hill that steep)...lol

im gonna be heading there for a two day ride one nite camping trip. ill be running my quad up there tho. ive heard nothing but good things about the badlands.

Went there back when I was 16 with my BRAND new ZR2 S-10 that was slightly lifted with 33's. Had to let my buddy say he was the owner and sign us in since I was under 18. We had a blast. used almost a whole tank of fuel ended up gettin stuck and eventually getting out of what looked like a lake. Got on the 4wheeler trail and had to on quite a few turns put it in 2wd and have my or my buddy push the back end around a turn while brake pressing it. Its a place I would go back to if I had a 4wheeler or a beater jeep. I was just stupid enough to take a brand new truck. Hey I didnt know any better. Left with only one small dent in the bedside that I was able to beat out so the rents never knew anything. "Until they found the pics" Doh!!!!

Looked like some real fun. Anyone turn over on that trip?

not that I know of.

The total carnage bill was 1 snapped axle, and two busted transfer cases, (all on the same guys samurai)

I had a flat on the trail on the night run. Had to use the old "ether and a zippo" trick to reseat the bead.
video here.

Other than that, we got out clean.

Love the badlands. We have a array of things to take. I have a nissan pickup, and yamaha big bear. My brother has a locked front and rear cherokee, and samurai.
