Hello, I have some power steering fluid leaking out of what I think is the gear box but I'm not sore on that. Whatever it is, it sits at the bottom end of the steering shaft. The picture is from the bottom since above it is too cramed with hose and stuff. So I guess if anyone can tell me what that is I should be able to find a replacement. Also power steering pump is under a year old so I'm pretty sure it's not leaking.

That is your steering gear box, runs almost $200 with tax at your local auto parts store.

From what I have been told they are a PITA to change out.

The leak might just be a bad hose or a loose connection. Might want to verify the source of the leak before dropping the coin for a new steering box.

X2 on finding the source of the leak first before tearing into it.
Its a bit of a PITA but the box can be removed from te front bottom trough the skid plate hole, the hoses can be had from there as well(pitman arm can stay on the box, just loosen the ball joint)

I done mine a couple weaks ago.

I will try to hunt the leak down. I think it will be kind of tricky because of all the grease and grime built up on the thing haha.

Electric pressure washer from your local discount store. Add a hose and blast away when cold. Then you can see where new leaks start from.

Hoses are suspect and known to leak esp the engine oil cooler hoses that go near the PS box if equipped.

Would a gas powered pressure washer be to much psi? I have one of those.

Oil cooler lines are a pain, I already switched the 2 and one is leaking now, and I'm pretty sure its shooting oil into the floor board (unless it's coming form somewhere else, can't really tell, doesn't squirt out when I'm looking).

Your gas machine should have a pressure regulator on it to set it at a lower pressure. For that matter, a good squirt down with Simple Green, 10 min soak and rinse down with the garden hose would work ok too.
