I am getting tired of the guessing game and dont want to go to the steeler "period" + i'm living in the boonies 40 km from the nearest town
I am thinking of buying both pc versions of these scanners
I like to know how user friendly they are in the real world.
I aint that good with computers,(I just get around).

So anyone that use them, you wanna pipe in and say your piece. + Will the GMTDScan cover a 93 Grand am OBDl that needs a scanner to read the codes(cant be done with paperclip)or are they strictly for the 94/95 diesels

thanks

GMTurboDieselScan is OBDI self-explanatory - AE is OBDII full coverage - do the pre-requisite search - plenty info on forum

GMTDS is limited only to 6.5 94-95 so it very limited in that respect. GMTDS also has a free version (that is what I have). All you can't do with it is TDC learn..etc...but it will show you all the vehicle sensors, and scan for codes.

In have the gmtd scan tech. It is only 94-95 6.5 diesel ,as said. It will not scan the abs brake system. You also need a laptop and the connecting cable.
The only thing I know of that will do both your vehicels is a tech 1 with mass storage or a tech 2. There may be others. I haven't heard of a software program that can do it all.

No prob, dude - I can type in 6.5 PMD FSD, and search comes back: not found, were you searching for JayLo, or Barack Obama??

Well i guess i must be stupid then. I punched in "GMTDScan" in search, all i get back is my own tread i just started.

Ah, mebby i should have searched for GMCTD ??

GMTDScan is great, very simple. The pay version allows you to do real diagnostic testing, not just read the sensors, which is awesome in and of itself though. It allows you to cut fuel injection to any one cylinder at a time, set TDCO, command all the dash lights (can really confuse the driver), command RPM setting, etc.... It may come in the free version too, but I like to watch the screen that says what features the PCM is applying at any given time. It says when the brake pedal is sensed, when TCC lockup is there, and everything else.

The cable though, can probably also be used for your other car, but not the software.

I'm pretty sure I did a write up on it. Maybe it was on the old site. I'll try to find it and copy it. Bottom line GMTDScan works very well for what it costs but It can be a PIA to install if you are running an older laptop and it' is not up to date. Usually have to reconfig the com port. I would say it's not plug in play but no that hard either.

Thanks guys, I took the plunge and bought both. My laptop is only a year old,i run Windows XP so it should work.I just hafta sell an extra buffalo to pay for it all.

Search did show dick all , no matter what i punched in
