I flushed out my PS last weekend while changing that stupid hydrobooster which wasn't really hard but would be easier if your arms had 4 joints. Taking the driver's seat out to be able to get in there was a big, big help but I digress...

I didn't have any ps fluid on hand like a moron, but realized that I still had a few gallons of TranSynd leftover so that's what I used. So far, so good- the weird vibration at the firewall that I had since the old hydrobooster started leaking is gone at least.
 
I've always used a quality DEXRON type ATF and never had any troubles. Years back they all used to use ATF, and the only difference was that ATF was dyed red and had some extra additives in it for clutch wear.
