On my 98,I recently developed a vibration and a drone when stopped with the tranny in drive and brakes applied. It does pull the engine down some.It is not doing this in park or neutral. Truck drives and shifts OK.
I had changed the tranny's oil and filter when i installed the rebuild engine.

Any idea whats causing this?

May sound silly, but it could be an exhaust vibration, and when you have the truck in drive with the brake on, it causes everything to torque just enough to be louder than otherwise. Just a thought.

x2 Mine has a drone at 1500 rpm while driving. It started with the ATT install, I have to modify an exh. hanger to cure it. The front hanger touches the pipe. Just need time.

Check your exhaust to make sure it is not hitting the frame anywhere. also make sure you have no leaks in your pipe near the top where you can't see them

I love it, mpg's are up 1-2 mpg, it pulls strong. the only problem is it's now my wife's daily driver. I have to get off my ass and get the 98 running for her. Just need time and money.

9 out of 10 chance is that its your downpipe hitting the frame. After installing the new mandrel bent on on my truck every now and then when I come to a stop the engine shaking will cause the pipe to vibrate and hit the frame. Look in the back left of your passenger side wheel well. You'll see the frame and the downpipe on the other side. Most likely, thats your problem.
