Are there any custom grills for our trucks?

I'm trying to find somthing custom as well... My brother has an 04 Duramax with an aftermarket deal which they cut the inside out and put a new chrome mesh in to replace all the missing plastic (its definitely a kit since ive seen it on other Durry's but we dont know who makes it)... It looks really good... and if i could find something like that for my 6.5 i might be able to squeeze a mack intercooler in front of the rad area... maybe wishful thinking...

Are you talking about replacing the entire grill and shell, or an insert?

The GMT 400 platform has to be the most well supported truck in the history of aftermarket parts, the grill choices, from mesh to billet, are nearly endless...

I've always thought this was a nice look:

chris4521, dont be hating on my favorite grille! :D

I have come to appreciate the W/T grille for a couple of reasons:

softer plastic, hence more impact resistant
headlights never need buffing/polishing
blinkers are of a wrap-around style, so a little safer

the other ones do look a little better, but for the simplicity i like them.

so jr savoie, from a durability standpoint, i would recommend a W/T grille. from a beauty standpoint, the W/t grille would not head my list! :D

No heating problems

I'm running cooler than ever with the upgrades and the LMC grill w/ 4mm inserts hasn't created any issues since installed this winter.

If you measure the opening of the overall grill and then measure the blockage areas its quite eye opening comparing different grills.

Take the overall area and subtract the obstruction area then divide by the overall area to compare the effective ratio.

Great White the red truck grill looks cool but appears to be a very bad grill for air flow. There appears to much more obstructed area than open area.

The stock grill with the big horizontal bar is actually not all that good. Its curved but does have a pretty big cross sectional blockage.

I have not done any math but the LMC full grills with out the horizontal bar (with the bowtie on it) not the inserts appear to be a lot better than stock for air flow.

Looks good Paul except it needs a proper badge in the center big red GMC vs a bowtie :D

It is what it is and that's fine with me. I'm not building a clone. Then again, how many HP would that gain me? :D

IIRC LMC markets a similar grill for the GMC and offers a Red Badge of Courage for it too. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cd/full.aspx?Page=60

I once considered a red VW TDI badge for the truck but learned that wasn't quite right after hanging around here with you guys.:nonod:

Not if you put a TDI in it!

):h

My VW Jetta TDI will fit just about fit in it...in the back that is.:D

Sorry, off topic.

Advantage of the GMC grills is that there a couple of offerings that will allow for that small grill under the right side turn signal to get air flowing better to the fender intake. Dang, off topic again...:mad2:

This looks like a nice, functional grill for a 99 Sub. Mine is beat.

V10 TDI is the engine to transplant if anything.
