If your APP acts up shouldn't the STS light come on? Lately when it's been cold (-25 or colder) the APP wouldn't work very well, but after it got a lil heat in the cab it was fine so I ignored it. Today on my way to work ( I work about 3 miles from home right now) truck not real warm I noticed the the rattle of the 6.5 suddenly got quiet and I didn't have much power. went away fairly quickly. Tonight on the way home just before I was going to turn in my driveway I thought the truck died just like I turned the key off, and it might have, but I did finally realize it was still running but real quiet and hardly any power. Managed to limp it in the driveway to the house turned it off and restarted and it struggled to idle but finally steadied out. Got out my fuel pressure guage and hooked it up and had 6 psi at idle. Tucked the guage under the wiper and took it for a spin, great fuel pressure and the truck acted normal. Any Ideas? I did snug the nut on the grounds at the back of the engine, but it was still tight and last time I messed with them I anti-oxed them. could be grounds but ..... open to all suggestions

Hard to tell if the APP is the cause without a live data scanner or a couple volt meters hooked up to the ECU when it is acting up.

The scanner would show the percentage of APP applied when the peddle is pushed. Otherwise its put some volt meters on the 2 or three signal lines from the APP to see the voltage change.

BTW, did you check the ground from the engine to frame and frame to cab?

I have not. If it will limp along for a little while longer I might be able to get it inside.

Lots of codes with no SES. I have a code 99 come and go for 5v low APP with no lights.

So it was about -15* this morning and I fired the truck up and headed off to work got about 3/4 mile from the house and had another episode. almost dead pedal, diesel rattle really quiet, and a really low idle (about 4-500). pulled off to the side of the road and let it idle it, finally warmed up and off I went. Whatever it was was def temp related. My wife picked me up at work and I left my truck there to be picked up one the way home. Got back about 8pm and went to start the truck and it would almost run but I think it was cold enough not to stay running at the lower rpm. Just for grins I took my spare PMD and plugged it in and it fired right up. I think these are the strangest pmd symptoms I've heard of. Time to buy a new spare.

Fuel gelling and plugging the filter? Is the fuel heater working in the FFM?

Oddly enough electronics can freeze to death. Like some space probes including the Mars Phoenix lander. :snow2:

You may need to mount the PMD in the cab TO KEEP IT WARM!!! :hihi:
