Anyone running a Turbo Blanket on their HX40WII not much specific to this turbo for our application with the internal wastegate. If your running one please post up pics and info on your setup IE preferred brand T3 OR T4, modifications to blanket for fit to keep the arm unobstructed, even other heat shielding options for the turbo. Your personal experience and opinions with this setup are welcome, figure this will help some people that are on the fence about it.
Thanks.

Just folded an off the shelf turbo blanket in half, attached to the oil line with a zip tie and called it a day. More of a heat shield than a true blanket.

In place:

pretty much a win win. keeps the heat in where it can be used by the turbo. also keeps engine bay cooler. beefy enough turbo so rust isn't an issue like with the rest of the exhaust

Think of the manifolds and turbo exhaust housing glowing red like a electric stove burner on high. Then think off all the items near the turbo including paint on the floorpan that I have burned. The AC accumulator is awful close to the turbo...

I can touch the ATT blanket without burns after driving and work on the AC. So it keeps the under hood heat down and in my case keeps things from melting down. Radiated heat is kept in the exhaust mainly...

NO it won't help drop or increase with egt's, as said above it does help with heat soaking under the hood...

I have a T4 blanket on mine.

That was one of my biggest concerns is keeping the under hood temps in that area down. Just looking at all the components in the immediate vecinity of the hot turbine housing, a little shielding can't hurt. After i get my blanket i will most likely get some of the other components in that area some sheilding as well. Also thinking of high temp painting and heat wrapping my X-over pipe as well. I should have wrapped my manifolds why i had the top end apart! :(

Do you happen to have any pics with the blanket in place on yours?

This is a T-4 on top of a 14cm hsg...

I have, or had a generic brand cut to fit blanket on my ATT (PO included it with the truck). It has mostly disintegrated.

Hey Chris, cant tell for sure, but in the bottom pic it almost looks like some of the coating came off? Between the clamp and blanket.

X 4 on keeping heat down in the engine bay and in the turbo they kept the paint on the hood intact too...another point in the blankets favor. That and you don't get those annoying burn scars on your forearm when poking around.:hihi:

I made a blanket for my ATT

It didn't take a beating too well but it was functional though it wasn't pretty.

Purchased one with the S-84. Not sure of the brand.

Dang paveltolz, that's one sexy looking beast!
Thank you. A lot of time and effort making mistakes to get there though. Remember, "No matter how good she looks; someone, somewhere, is tired of her #$%^&"

Here's mine, so far, its holding up well considering where its mounted. I installed it in April.
Now that should be a write up!

What? My setup, it is. On here and The Diesel Place. Also have a letter in Oct Diesel Power mag and they hinted about doing a story on my van.
