I have to replace my windshield in my truck, it has about a 14" long crack in it. I was wondering if anyone else had to replace theirs and what glass did you use, and how does it compare to GM? Also can you order glass from GM?

I had the windshield replaced in my 01 2500HD... you can tell whichever glass company you use to install GM glass (ONLY use a windshield made by Pilkington or Saint-Gobain, it will say this in the lower right corner). They put some generic crap in at first that leaked just above the Onstar GPS antenna and had to re-do it but I insisted they use an OEM windshield the second time... no problems.

Your insurance should cover it without question if you have comprehensive.

I think Safelite or Guardian is what I used last year without problems. I think a lot has to do with who actually does the work.

Calll around, most glass shops will cut you a deal if they don't have to bill insurance, I know our shop will. Should be lllaround $300 installed w/ a min 1 year warranty. PPG, Guradian, Pilkington are all fine, avoid the china knock offs
