I use it in my Grand Am and in my wifes Blazer, and have seen a world of difference, so i'm definitely thinking about using it in the Sierra. Just curious if anyone else uses it.

I used it in the infiniti, before I sold it... and in my bike before I totaled it... I plan on switching the chubby over to it....

My advice though.... be religious on your 5-6k mile oil changes, and dont use it if your truck will sit for long periods of time... if you have older oil and it sits for say half of the year, the lubricant can separate and its a bitch to clean up.... but if you are running it everyday, you will be fine

i've got a friend on the other site(whitek2500) that used royal purple in his engines and trans and says it makes a word of difference. i've got another friend using royal purple 10w-30 in his 4.7 dakota. i personally run Amsoil 15w-40 synthetic in my truck, and both the truck and myself are happy with it. really good oil pressure(60 psi cold ~40 hot after a good highway run, both checked at idle). i'm sure royal purple will provide better lubrication and less time "waiting" for oil pressure to come up upon cold start. with the rotella T 15w-40 i had to wait a good 1-2 seconds after startup before the gauge even thought about moving, in the winter time. with the amsoil the gauge goes right up even in the 20*F(soon to be colder) weather.

This is a good advice. I used it once in my car and it sits longer than it runs. It broke down and the car was never the same. It looks like RP is an oil that could not be unused or extended oci.

Make sure you use the Diesel rated oil (Cx where x is G to J).

I was in napa on saturday and the royal purple gasoline oils were $13 a quart. Man that is rediculous. I think it is more expensive than amsoil.

HOW much!?! thats BS. price gouging to say the least. the place i get mine from the Royal Purple is $6.99 and at my job its $7.49 per quart, diesel or gasoline rated oil. Amsoil is $9 and change where i get it. The last time i changed my oil was about a month ago, but i can't see it going up that much that quickly.

Used it once. Looked dirty as soon as I put it in. For the price, it is not worth it IMHO. Run Red Line in the 1523, happy with that, but as for the rest, will be using AMSOIL, just became a preferred customer.

I have been using Royale Purple for over three years know. I use it in my other halves Tahoe and have since it hit 5,000 miles. I am a firm beleiver in the oil. I do plan on using it in my truck once I start driving it every day.

I use rotella, I get a discount from work ;) It's all my truck has ever seen from the first oil change and still running strong at almost 80k, only problem it's ever had is power steering pump and a pmd so i guess it's doin its job.

I use Amsoil and have been very happy with it switching from rotella. Helps the old 6.5 build oil pressure quickly when its cold outside so i doesn't sound like its going to blow up.

I used RP for 3 changes and lost/burnt a quart or more of oil by the next oil change. I won't pretend to know why, but I have also tried/used Amsoil, Mobil 1 and Shell Rotela (all synthetics) and don't have the problem anymore.

For now, I'll stick with Rotella and/or Amsoil.

It just seems to me if the RP has a tendancy to separate and become NFG then it's not much good. I haven't heard of that on any other oil. JMHO

Now i don't get that, When i do a cold start my oil pressure guage surges and won't come down til it warms up.

I dynoed a Ford 408" Windsor drag race / street engine a couple of months back. We ran the engine for its complete break in, and then about a half a dozen initial setup and tuning pulls. At that point the owner wanted to change the oil to the Royal Purple. I believe it had Rotella 15-40 in it for break in and then we went to the 20-50 purple. I would have to check the numbers for sure but I know the engine picked up 4 or 6 horsepower with no other changes.

Amsoil is more money than the Royal Purple in this area.

I don't post here much, so I missed this one, or I would have posted faster.

As for RP, I love it, Turbo loves it, and on cold days (even with 15-40) oil pressure comes up fast.

In the trans, it was like any fresh fluid change, made a ton of difference, but what made it stand out from the rest is the fact that even since the change a while ago, the trans still shifts as if it had fresh fluid in it.

I've driven a few 6.5's due to work, and I've tested em with amsoil in both the engine and trans, and while my truck isn't quite stock, this isn't fair, but I feel that RP is better then amsoil AS FAR AS PERFORMANCE goes.

If you want a "set and forget" oil, amsoil is what I'd suggest.

I've had my oil analized, and I'm almost double the suggested change interval, and everything is alright, but I'll do a change soon, as too much soot isn't good regardless of what oil you have, and clean oil helps clean the engine better then old stuff.
