My Cruise is not working. No codes. want to test for power before condemning the TS Stalk. Gonna try a spare PMD tommrow as well as the one on there is a POS DTech.

Well I could send you a 97 but I am not sure if that would work seeing as there were differences between 97 and 98 with the PCM etc.

Heck for what its worth here it is.

Cheers
Nobby

I'm not 100% positive on this (maybe someone else can verify)... But, I think there's a switch on the brake pedal that if it fails, will prevent the cruise from working. Might be worth while checking that, too. But, that's probably in that wiring schematic, too.

carcode should be able to tell you if the brake switch is engaged, or what other flags are set in the PCM that may prevent cruise from working. Its not as simple as GMTDScanTech but should be in there. Need to find the flags.

I'm in Monroe, La today Kenny home tomorrow let me know if you still need schematics for a 98, but the one from the 97 Nobby posted ought to be pretty close if not exact.

Have not messed with it yet. Hopefully this weekend. I didn't use carcode but did throw my OBD2 code reader on it. No codes. I suspect PMD. Truck has been idling funny intermittently. It has a used D Tech(spare that came with the Dually, ). I have a spare Standyne to try. If that doesn't work I will get more into it. The stalk I used when I insytalled the cruise was a Chinese knock off from Advance so that could be defective as well. IIRC CarCode can also detect if cruise is being activated but carcode is such a PIA to use. Waitin for Nobby to tell me if AE has cyl kill....:D

Do you have high idle switches? Do they work? My brake switch was bad and it didn't allow the cruise to work, also didn't let the high idle switches engage. It's hard to get at but you might wiggle the switch around a bit and see if the cruise comes back.

If you didnt buy the PMD new, you dont know what its been through, I wouldnt condemn them all off of experience with used ones. You likely wouldn't have better luck with Stanadyne. After all, these symptoms were known of PMDs long before Flight Systems was around.

1 used 2 new all bad. And the used one was new but purchased by PO of the truck. I bought a Dtech from Leroy and from Accurate and they both failed. The one PO bought is from Badger. it is the one currently acting up. I just don't know anymore. I really think it's climate related. I plugged in the spare I have with no heatsink just to test and just a few hundred feet up the street the thing could have cooked bacon. It's gotta be climate related. IN fact I had better luck with PMDs mounted right on the IP.
I'm not the only one. Over at DP alot of guys with Flight Systems failures. I just talked to Tim at Accurate and he said he practically begs people not to buy the new grey ones as the only last 10-11 months...Ughhhh...
