I have a Fisher engine driven hyd pump with an electric clutch on it. I need to convert it from vbelt to serp belt. Also the clutch has alot of wear. The clutch off my 94 was oh so close to working. I was wondering if anyone has any other ac compressors laying around they could measure the shaft dia on. It need to have a shaft dia of 1/2" or smaller.

How much oil flow/pressure do you need? What about just using your power steering pump, thats what I use on my hay spears, works great.

I thought about that but wasn't sure if it would require reworking all the rest of the system. My pump has 3 ports 1 pressure 1 return and 1 that bypasses the pressure relief to the tank. IIRC power steering only has 2 ports. I know it would work was just trying to use the system as it was.

I expected it to be tapered but its straight my 94 ac pump was exactly the same only the shaft was a few thou over so it wasn't an interference fit it slid on loosely.

Your snow plow valve is an open center valve, correct, meaning oil is always flowing through it even when not doing a hydraulic function until you shut off the pump clutch.

Your stock power steering pump is only good for around 1400-1500psi, I dont know how much pressure you need to raise the blade. P/S pumps have an internal relief valve, so pressure is regulated before it leaves the pump, so that shouldn't be a problem. If thats enough pressure and your valve is an open center valve, mount the valve inline between the p/s pump and hydroboost. Prolly going to have to have a bigger oil reservoir, I just used a piece of 4" exhaust pipe about 2' long on my 94.

You could stop by a dedicated AC supply shop. They have junk compressors in a barrel. They may have enough new clutches in stock to find one for you. They you may be able to get a core and rip the clutch off it. I mean a warehouse not a shop: like http://www.aapak.com/

This is AK we don't have any dedicated AC shops that I know of. Otherwise I wouldn't be asking.:D

:D Yeah, yeah...
Maybe call these guys with the dimensions you need and they likely have it; also in the junk pile...

Well I talked to Pitts today, they are one of the major clutch manufactures, and they said they never made any clutches with that samll of a shaft and a serp belt. So it looks like I'll have my buddy modify the 94 one I have. It's actually got a bigger clutch then the old one anyway and it will give me the serp belt.

Just an update. I got lucky and found the clutch I needed. It was an exact fit with no mods necessary. Better to be lucky than good eh. So today my buddy and I manufactured to mount for it, we were both pleased with how it turned out. I think it will be a much better set up than the v belt it was supposed to have.
