Well I know there is a leak. At first I thought it was the normal crack in number 8 or head gasket...Thinking...

Well no smoke out exhaust so thought that was good news...

Well after checking things out it is leaking on crossover pipe and coming around the starter. Now I am thinking freeze out plug...Wish I could see things better but but starter in the way and before I pull things apart what are the opinions out there? could it be the block still?

thanks

The good news is it's on the outside. It could be the block off plate at the rear of the head on the pass side. The plate covers the same passages that the cross over bolts to.

I was thinking the same thing as far as it is on the outside. I just wish I could see more....I might have to remove the starter to see more....thanks

Start with the top of the engine. Coolant drops down and the usual culprit along with the above suggestion is the heater hose connection at the thermostat crossover. It is a pain to remove the powered metal connector from the factory, but, a 3/4 hose barb and threaded fitting without the garbage quick connect is a better way to handle this.

Well I got the starter out and it looks dry above it. I looked all over the top of engine and on both side of engine....Thinking on removing the inspection cover ( torque converter) to see if it is wet in there....I looked all around the hoses and front crossover...all dry there to...

So back to my search I go...

update...I bought a pressure kit...It held at 15 psi and guess what not leak....Now I am going to flush the system and replace the thermostat and warm it up and see if it leaks. When it starts to leak if it does I am going to look everything over again....

No because it was low on antifreeze and never got warm....It had no thermostat in it.....

I was thinking that to but how did it get around the starter and bellhousing. The only thing that leaked a little was where the thermostat goes. I did not see it leaking before but now that it is cleaned good the new gasket leaks just a little. I am going to put some silicone there and let it dry that will keep that from leaking.

I guess I will stick with 195 thermostat to.

Did the leak by the starter show up before or after the Tstat change? If it was after it may have an air bubble that blew some out of the over flow. Just thinking what it could be.

I did not see it leaking before but it might of been hidden behind where I could not see. I am hoping that this is it. I need this running for the weekend.. Have to move trailers around...Once this is taken care of then I have to still replace all the brake lines.... ss :)

Also check the heater core and AC drain. Heater core leak would drain out by the hoses through the firewall sometimes. You may have a heater core leak that got plugged with debris. Same for the connection at the t-stat housing. Give it the wiggle test and see if it is on the edge of failure.

That is a good point...I did not smell anything inside the cab though. I did not smell any antifreeze inside the cab...

Check the coolant quick connect, that is high up there and it cannot be seen unless the engine just shut down.
Put your finger underneath it if necessary, don't touch it though.

This was suggested by WarWagon, too.

I will be checking everything today once I get home

update...

I got it warmed up and looked everything over again....Still have a leak on middle of exhaust crossover pipe...on starter ...and some on oil pan...

It seems like the most is at the middle of the exhaust crossover pipe..

I don't get it. It still has pressure in hose after sitting for 4 hours...

I did notice alot of smoke coming from exhaust. It dont smell like antifreeze though... Kinda just smoke with no smell...

Keep in mind that a leak at the front of the engine will blow back to the back while driving,a leak at the coolant crossover, rear block off plates, upper rad hose,ECM coolant sensor or heater hose quick connect or return fitting will all dump into the valley and drain down around the area you are finding the moisture.

A fuel leak from any part of the filter manager or under intake fuel lines will all drain to that area as well, even some IP's can leak into the valley and the fluid will get to that location.

Thanks for the heads up. I just idleing it leaks at bellhousing. I cant find the read block off plates though....I see the fuel is alittle wet in valley but on the ground it is all antifreeze. I think replacing the engine is going to be my best bet right now from what people are saying about the vids that I posted.
