My 97 the doors lock as soon as you turn the key on. I always carry to sets of keys but I must have locked the keys in the damn thing 6 times now. And way to turn that off? anyway? :mad2:

When you can get into your truck read your owner's manual. There should be some way to disable that feature. I know some cars have it set up where if the car is running and in gear the doors automatically lock. My brother's ex's car had that feature and I hated it.

I don't know if the 97 is smart enough but I know most features like daytime running lights and a few other features can be disabled w/ a scantool.

No luck. no manual with the truck and no scan tool. Does everyone's 97+ doors lock when they start there truck?

Mine did before i took the remote start crap out.
only the dr side door would lock and that pesky seatbelt beeper would'nt shut up

I have never heard of a truck doing that. My cousin's 1997 GMC Sierra SLT K1500 doesn't...his dad's 1997 Chevrolet Silverado LS K1500 doesn't, my 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT K1500 (same body style) didn't.

There might be some GM Easter Egg, one of those insert key hold multifunction lever back, push unlock 6 times while humming yankee doodle...(might've made that last part up) I'll look into it.

First question... is there any possibility there is an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry/remote start on it? My aftermarket alarm has the option to do that (granted it's disabled).

As Devin said, I've never seen that feature in a GMT400 pickup from the factory....

GMT400 trucks that I've been in, that don't auto-lock.

1995 K1500 (best friend's brother)
1996 Tahoe (Brandon's old ride)
1997 Sierra K1500 (Devin's cousins, above)
1997 Silverado K2500 (friend)
1998 2-door Tahoe (2nd mom)
1998 Sivlerado 5.7L (best friend)

Heck, even my 02 GMT800 doesn't autolock.

My father in law has a 96 that did the same thing. He doesn't use the locks anyway, so I just pulled the breaker out of the fuse panel to fix it. The manual locks will still work -just no power.
