Well went out this morning to head out for the day. Turned the key, glow plug light goes out, turn the key and click, click , click. I knew the day was coming but did not expect it until fall. 12/02/05 to 7/31/2012 on the stock AC Delco batteries. These things never lead a drop of acid and lived a good life. :sadwavey:

Not that there is ever a good time to be stranded but at least it was in my driveway. Bad thing was that it is the only vehicle available since my wife is on vacation. Friends are a great thing to have. I gave Kyle (dmaxfireman) a call. Poor guy had a busy night with not much sleep but he never hesitated and saved my ass anyway. Not only did he get me a great deal on a set of Interstate batteries he drove me to go get them. 64 miles round trip. Kyle I owe you big time....

I sold my truck 4 1/2 years old and they still were pretty strong.. Very impressive for stock batteries to last that long.

Yep, same way mine went this past winter. 5 1/2 years and all of a sudden dead. 2 new mega Interstates and off ya go. At least mine was delivered to me from the shop on the edge of town. Good to hear Bill! Kyle's a good guy from all reports and has been helpful to me also.

There goes a good 2-$225 smackers..

Good service life though, can't bitch much.

added: Careful on the new AC Delcos, (if this is your choice) I've seen quite a few made in... you guessed it,... china.

Be that as it may, if your current batts are china jobs then, they musta got them right.

Still on the original in my truck. I think for peace of mind I'm going to replace it this fall. 7 1/2 years is pretty good

mine are new ~ 1yr. Im gonna guess the temps (high and low) could have something to do with shorter life down here.. But thats just a guess honestly. My truck was showing 121 on the mirror today cruising the highway at 62.

Who knows. My truck sees -15 to 110. Plus it sits for long periods of time without moving. I would think that would be really hard on battery life

Nice Bill. And great Kyle! Friends helping friends is what it is all about! I know I am going to jinx myself, as I am still on my originals as well.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:Awesome another TTS member lending hand story Kudos Kyle part of what makes this TTS family so special IMO .:agreed:

1st time I got stranded with battery issues years ago, I bought me a hand held load cell tester and just before peak battery killer seasons summer/winter I test them running Duralast Golds with the 3x7 yr warranty, ususally when they start getting weak there is enough pro-rate left in the pair that I pay for 1 and get the 2nd one for free or next to free. Once I got bot for 3 because they were getting weak in the 3yr window(bad lot group I guess).

Since the puters in all modern vehicles are so voltage dependent just to get right sensor output/PCM input voltages I even load test the gassers & the TDI in my stable of vehicles as part of my preventative maint routine.
