Acceptable oil pressure hot and cold?

40-48psi hot @2000 RPM is really good. No less than 20psi hot @2000 RPM. 8psi hot idle is the minimum, IIRC.

How many miles on the engine?
1st suspect is cam bearings. 2nd is main bearings, 3rd is oil pump.

A common thing people try is a new oilpump because it is fairly easy and inexpensive.

A few years back I went on a quest for the best oil pump. Turns out every single brand I found was a rebranded Melling. I even spoke to an engineer at Melling and ran down a list with him. He couldn't volunteer names, but when I asked each brand specific he verified they made it.

One of the companies sells it with different tension springs for adjusting pressure/flow rates- cant remember which one though.

How hot is it out? Buy some time with Mystik symi-syn 15w-50. Not a typo as the 50 weight brings the pressure up a notch or two in the extreme hot weather I get.
