Truck has been running fine for months now. This morning, I had a harder than normal start. Kind of a stumbling, sputtering, spitting start. When it rumbled to life, there was a split second of an SES light. Just a very quick flash.

It coded a 21. "Acc Pedal Position 1 Circuit high"

No other codes, truck runs fine. Several other starts today, with no problems.

I'll clear codes this evening, and see what happens tomorrow morning, of course.

Are there any other components that could read as a bad app, that I should be diagnosing? (injectors, etc.)

Here is what I did to fix my APP problems...

1. Go to your nearest electronics supply house and purchase a can of DEOXIT contact cleaner.
2. In the side of the APP, *CAREFULLY* drill a 1/8" hole
3. Liberally spray deoxit cleaner in the hole while working the pedal.
4. Wait 15 minutes and test.

I can give you a camera phone picture if necessary of where to drill the hole. Just let me know.

From what I have gathered the APP has 3 circuites, all of which must fail to lose APP function. Seems like a triple backup design that rarely fails, based on lack there of forum posts on the issue.

Well, no codes today. But I'm never one to have the kind of luck where problems magically fix themselves. This is the type of thing that likes to bite me when I'm 200 miles from home. Any other suggestions?.......

Guys,

Sorry I didn't post it today. I was at work from 12:30 AM this morning, I just got home for some dinner and the wife is out with the truck. I will grab it as soon as I can. It's been a BAD day...

No, the APPS has 3 circuits all of which must work or else it will default to idle mode. This was mandated by the DOT and OSHA as a safety precaution since there is no mechanical link between the driver and engine control.

I'd still love to have that photo if possible. I'm getting a consistent code 21 at start up now. Also getting a symptom that either IS, or is mimicking a failing starter solenoid. Not sure if it is the solenoid, (starter was replaced four months ago)or if this has something to do with a failing APP.

Truck is still starting and driving, but I sense a breakdown coming on......

LOL... and I thought it was a 3-circuit design in which 2 of the circuits had to be in agreement with each other, like the fly-by-wire logic in an F18.. the circuit that doesn't agree with the other two gets ignored.

HELP - need an expert opinion on this one!

Damn! I am sorry. I will take one in about 2 hours for you.

No problem, I got roped into helping a friend move over the weekend. Didnt get to work on it anyway.

Hoping to solve the problem before it leaves me stranded, is all.

OKAY OKAY!! I just WISH I could go into how rough this week has been...

:nono::D

Here it is.... Now, use a drill bit with a stopper on it set to about 3/16 so you don't hose the resistors.
