:suicide:
I kept the evaporator, compressor-barely, and hoses with repair.
I replaced the INOP fan clutch with a Hayden unit and put on a spare 21" Trailblazer plastic fan. We will see how that goes.
The AC lines were missing a seal at the back of the compressor and the high side valve was broken and wrong. I had a valve in stock. This is the only thing that went right. One of the few hose sets that have a replaceable high side valve. (The GMC parts truck hoses were mangled and compressor crank bent.)
I had to replace the missing clutch wire and the clutch connector is broken up on the coil but usable.
Condenser was blasted till fins came off and fins mashed on the inside by PO so it had to be replaced.
New accumulator and VOV orface tube.
When putting in the new VOV on the new condensor I found that it was corroded internally or FUBAR from the factory with a white powder that was screened and built up by the preinstalled orface tube. I wondered why it was a PIA to get out taking 30 min with tweezers and pliers. So back it went.
O-rings would not hold on condenser so back to parts store.
Pressure switch took 3 o-rings before one held.
Finally got system to hold a vacuum.
Pressured it up and watched AC oil start dripping out of the high side compressor port to hose connection. First time I have ever had a system leak after holding a full vacuum overnight.
The truck has the wrong damn compressor. The ports need to be even and this one has the high side recessed. They make a spacer type seal to correct this. So I put that on.
Finally got the system to hold a charge now.
And the blower motor now starts to scream. :mad2: Least I got a spare one on the parts truck.
