A1 Cardone is pure cr@p! :cussing: Magna-Pure filtration on Power Steering pumps is a bad joke!

Seriously, how hard is it for A1 Crapone to FUBAR a stupid simple PS pump? Using the proper tool to remove/install the pulley. A hammer would not make a difference to the short life of their pumps!

Next to the starter rear bracket there is one other "bitch" bolt to get to and that is the power steering bracket on the driver's side of the engine.

I have NEVER seen rebuilt parts fail as completely and quickly as the garbage wrapped in a A1 Cardone box! I started out by replacing the front end and then the steering box and PS pump. The factory PS pump has a little noise so what the hell I thought slap on a reman pump with Magna-Pure filtration. Big Mistake as the replacement lasted 30 min and made me redo the PS box, pump, and hydrobooster. As well as replace the new lines and flush the cooler out. Total metal dusting in everything! Filter is worthless - see pic.

Posted pic of pump here. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/sh...e-can-the-booster-and-steering-box-be-flushed

The parts usually have dirt in the oil. Yes specks of visible paint or other debris in a fresh rebuild! Pump, PS box, etc.

So after replacing the hydrobooster (not a fun job), steering box the 2nd time, PS pump the 2nd time and hoses, the 2nd time the system works for 6 months. The the PS box s#its a seal, dumps the oil out, and apparently hurts the pump.

Replace the box, flush the system and the pumps quits the next day. Replace the pump, flush the system with the returns lines off, bill for rust proofing oil undercoating from PS oil going everywhere...

Pump lasts 2 days then rattles under load while you feel it pulse the brakes. Took belt off and feel pump spin - stiff - spin. :suicide:

Order replacement filter for the FRM-HPG1 fuel filter and shove it on the return line from the cooler. No kill like overkill. Besides need to clean the metal out of the system and don't feel like doing a booster and box again. (Would be the 3rd time) Will run it for a week than switch over to the worthy, but, smaller designed for PS filter with bypass:

Flush system, replace PS pump, flush system again.

This is the 4th M.F. pump I have had to throw on the damn thing in under a year! I am buying PS fluid by the gallon!

The pictures of the Magna-Pure filter show a useless small tank sock like screen for any "boulders" in the system held on with a magnet. Magnet pops off when screen clogs. Another magnet is slapped on the bottom of the pump. Not worth the extra money. :mad2:

Really? You call this a filter?! :nonod:

You do realize there is 2 different grades of cardone don't you? There is the autozone advance line, and then there professional line that gets sold at CARQUEST and NAPA.

20-8735F for the 1995 is the same part number at Carquest and oreillyauto. No other "line" available. Napa is different, but, local stores don't stock that part number although the main website lists it.

Sorry about your terrible luck. I used the napa magna pure deal and hoping no problems. Only a thousand miles so far . I used inline filters on the returns as well. I replaced Hydrobooster and all related parts and pray this does not happen to me. It sucks to think we live in an age where you might be better off getting junkyard parts cause they may last longer than full priced new ones. Makes me wonder if replacing every last thing under the hood was a good idea, Time will tell.
