well, i finally got my GM auto/enginuity package today.
got it installed on this puter, hooked it up to the 98,and spent 3 friggin hours to figure out how to operate it! no luck so far. The only data i was able to extract was DTC's[there where none] and engine temp,RPM and intake temps.
There where only 4 sensors to choose from.

I seem to need some serious education here. Anybody ,any advice ????

what exactly are you trying to to. It's a pretty simple program once you get past the intial instal/setup which it sounds like you did.

It seems the dropdown menu is very limited to what sensors i'm able to acces.
RPM,Coolant temp,Intake temps and EGR is all the engine sensors i can find.

did you get the basic version or the enhanced? You also need to activate the enhanced version w/ the key code they sent w/ it.

did you get to the pop up screen that auto detects your vin#? In there there is an option to look at each system. Drivetrain, brakes, trany, etc. They are in drop down windows.

I would call AE. When you plug in the cable and open the software mine pops up a window w/ vin #, trany, year, make, model, etc. By auto detecting the vin it will auto populate all the info except the trany. 4sp is if you have an automatic and manuel (I know this is a spanish name but I can't spell this morning). I've got to leave for work. Good luck!

yea, somewhat. I found out that on vehicle selection there is a system drop down window that lets one choose what component to test, but the engine itself aint on the list.WTF,it took me a while to figure out how to get that to work.

ya, i got it to work. only retrieving saved data comes back as " cant open, files are corrupted"??

I,m a bit disapointed one cannot do a injector test like GMTDScan tech.

How does it test the injector?

The beauty of an electronic fuel system :) There must have been some reason they did it.

The fuel inject control signal the PCM sends to PMD must cut out that 2 milliseconds that it knows which injector the IP Fuel Solenoid was supposed to be powered for. Very precision stuff.

I belive it's called "cylinder balance" or something like that. I know I'm able to turn off individual injectors with my AutoEnginuity.

imagine it this way - your truck is knocking. The cause is either an injector thats stuck open, or stuck closed. The knocking goes away when the bad injector is removed from the picture. Now, insteadf of having to crack individual injector lines, your just shutting off that injector. Indeed, the magic of EFI
