Wanted to say thanks to Slim Shady, Patric, and everyone else involved in the ATT. I wish I would have done it when they first came out. I installed it on Thurs. and drove it a couple days and took it down to see some family 150 miles away. I could not believe how less labored the engine felt and sounded. There are 2 hills, one is Altamont pass which I think is a 5% grade for a mile or so, and it can get windy there. Was going into a head wind, wasn't pulling a trailer, but have about 500lbs. in the bed with transfer tank, tools, and other crap for the weekend. So we are rolling along at 65 mph, get to the steeper part of the hill and I roll on the throttle and I couldn't believe how fast it got to 85mph, going up hill, into a head wind, and I didn't pin it. I was about 3/4 throttle. I got on it quite a few times through out the trip there and back. Filled up when I got home and got just under 18 mpg. Before I was getting 15.5-16 on the same trip, without getting on it. I can't wait to pull the trailer with it. Will post back then. Anybody who is on the fence, you won't regret it. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner. Thanks again Slim!!

I feel the same way about mine!!
X2, I was a wee bit disappointed when I first got it and for 11 months after that. Then I got my exhaust leak fixed and am looking so forward to towing our trailer in 24 days time. Vacation. woohoo.. It also took darn near a month to arrive here but that is most likely due to Canada customs. Should have sent it to my postal box in Blaine, Washington

I can't wait to do mine. I just have to find some down time between school, work, and kids baseball. I've got the itch though. :D

.............. Then I got my exhaust leak fixed ........
same thing with me, about the same amount of time also. fixed my leak and was able to finally build some boost. really like mine. can really feel it above 2000.

You won't regret it. Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Can't wait to tow the toyhauler with it.

I paid closer attention this morning. Boost gauge starts to move around 1500 with a little less than 1/4 throttle. But. The truck accelerates better than with the GM 8 with less boost. My boost would be 6-8 to accel. at what the ATT does at 1-3. I personally don't notice any lag on acceleration. The truck accelerates faster with the ATT than it did with my GM 8. Cruise on the highway I was always 4-8 with GM 8 at about 2100 RPM. I am now at 1-3 at the same speed, and when you roll on it, it goes good. And I am still running my intercooler. I left it on because when I didf the turbo I figured if it doesn't line up with the intercooler I would take it off and make to turbo work with my Peninsular intake. But since it lined up, I left it alone. I have to smog my truck in June, and they make me take it off to smog it. So I will pull it off then, and that way I can compare if it runs better for me without it. Turbine Doc and Slim Shady both said take it off, so I'm sure it will. But since it lined up good I left it to compare for my self. IAT's were 10-15 degrees about ambient. Buy one(ATT). I don't think you will regret it.

Turbine Doc had an IC on with the GM8, then went to the ATT. IAT was good with the ATT and the IC caused some lag.

I believe it's all in his thread, it started at the place then was finished here IIRC.

Why would someone suggest NOT to use an intercooler? Is this ATT that good? How about some IATs posted up
I think what it is, the intercooler has tubes in which it takes time to compress the air coming in from the turbo. More so than without an intercooler. The time it takes to compress the air will lead to black smoke until the compressed air gets to the intake. Think of an air compressor filling a 1 gallon tank vs. filling time for a 10 gallon tank. Takes time. And when you take it in for a smog test, they ain't gonna like the black smoke so it is best to minimize it first unless you fail in which case you can then remove the intercooler and try again.

I will take some. I must not notice as much as other people. I was told about the lag with the intercooler before I installed it on my GM8. After I installed it I didn't notice anything different other than it towed better and my mileage seemed to go up a little bit. So we will see if I notice a difference when I take the intercooler off to smog it in June. I'll go get some pics. now if it isn't too dark.
