So here is my 06 pulling a usual load to the mountains.
Now it is overweight as far as the numbers go, but Truck is setup with Air bags and trailer has brakes on all 4 wheels. Handles it fine. I didnt feel uncomfortable going up and down an 11% grade for 10 miles each way, so I would say it handles fine.

Scale ticket shows 24,950lbs. I weighed the truck the day before without the trailer and it was 7,980. Truck was weighed with 2 people and full tank of fuel.
Truck and trailer were weighed with 3 people and half tank of fuel in truck and both rigs on trailer.

Im impressed with the truck... Couldnt ask for more at this point.

NICE! That's a good load - but then, that's a good truck!

Glad you've got the airbags to help stabilize the vertical load... You're pulling about 16K there - that would be like a BIG 4-slide 5er without the wind resistance, and I've seen DMaxes handle them with no issues.

Yeah it handled it just fine. Its my first Gooseneck and I'm enjoying it. My Carson Car hauler was a fine trailer, but this thing amazes me each time I hitch it up.

Nice load.

It's amazing what these trucks can do.

What was your EGT's like?

Pulling that 11% grade, it will hit 1350 then it drops a gear and they settle around 1250-1300. im not really hard on it. but it pulls fine around 40-45mph up that grade. My old 350 would jump from 2nd to first gear screaming at 5k rpms going like 25mph tops. this thing pulls it with ease...

Going for a another trip down to AZ with a similar load. Can't wait for that...

That's not bad, what tune are you running with the big loads?

Crap, I can touch 1100 unloaded just climbing a small hill.

Been running the PPE on Level 2 (90HP). I'd like to drop it to the 45HP Tow Tune, but then I get the EGR codes. So it'll stay at 90HP.

When pulling that grade, i'm usually in it about 70% throttle.
I've seen 1000 deg or so pulling smaller grades unloaded also. Its strange, I weight and load are not directly proportional to EGT.

Keep in mind im 5" straight piped. I noticed a big drop in EGT's once I did that.
