I'm sure this question has been answered already,i need to find the tach wire under the dash on my truck .it is a 1993 gmc 6.5
i'm new here not to sure how this site works yet but will figure out.any help would be great ,thanks and have a great day

Tach on 6.5's are taken off the alternator. The alt has likely gone T.U. if the tach isn't working. If you are adding one: Good luck finding one that you can set to run off an alternator. Otherwise I would suggest a used cluster with a tach already in it.

I think i asked the wrong question

the tach works fine ,i need to find the tach wire that goes to the tach gauge so i can install my alarm/remote start ,sorry for not explaining well.

I put one in years ago. You'll grab the wire off the alt. I can't remember where I taped it.

re:little help

Remote start on a 93? What kit do you have? Does it allow for glow time?
Thanks for the response.yes remomte on 93 yes glow time. Just wanting to find the under dash tach wire. I know the wire is on the alt. Im not sure if that is a useable signal i can install by setting the start time, would rather use tach so the system will control .

Back when I did mine the remote start was for a gasser. My brother made a timer that would wait for gp's to cycle. I have another remote start thats been sitting on the shelf for a few years and it is set up for a diesel, made by Bull Dog I think.

welcome to the site!

Wherabouts in Idaho are you located? I am back there a few months each year at the family farm in Gooding.
